John Pirker
The intimacy of working with the material and concrete nature of the resulting work were what initially drew John Pirker to glassblowing. As a medium for expression, glass has allowed him to continuously explore the diversity of color, form and technique. Each piece is a fresh and fascinating exploration of a fresh and fascinating exploration of his natural creativity.
Since graduating from the glass program at Sheridan College in 1999, John has been a resident artist at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. John uses exquisite combination of color and design in his craft. Focusing primarily on functional objects, he has developed a wide range of work from simple, elegant vases to unique “pinched” bowls and plates.
His work is available at craft shows, selected galleries and shops throughout Canada and the United States and by special custom order; some of his work was purchased by former President Bill Clinton in Fall 2002. Through his constant work and experimentation with color and form John Pirker’s vision continues to unfold in new and exciting directions.
