Margaret Loney
Margaret Loney is a watercolour artist from Sudbury, Ontario. Her childhood was spent on a farm in Larchwood, and she has always called the Sudbury area home. Although she is best known for her Northern Ontario blueberry paintings, Margaret has developed a unique style in florals.
Whether it’s the roses and geraniums in her garden, or the wildflowers that grow around her camp at Lost Channel, Margaret draws inspiration from her natural surroundings. Her paintings bring to life the mysterious, ephemeral nature of flowers, evoking the smell and feel of petals and leaves with each careful stroke. She finds watercolour a magical medium for capturing flowers.
Her previous exhibitions have been displayed at the Sudbury Theatre Centre, The Attic, Church of the Epiphany, and has been a part of the Sudbury Art Tour for 12 years. Margaret is mostly-self taught, but has studied at the Haliburton School of Fine Arts, the Buckhorn School of Fine Arts, and has taken part in workshops with Ivan Wheele and Brian Atyeo.
