About the N.O.A.A. : The Northern Ontario Art Association was
formed in 1949. In 1957, the first Annual Exhibition was juried in Sudbury
with jurors, A.Y.Jackson and Claire Bice. The second Annual Exhibition was
juried by A.J.Casson and Gus Weisman.
The Northern Ontario Art Association tradition is carried on to this
day. The annual exhibition offers an opportunity for the members from some 14
affiliated clubs to submit their works for jurying. Selected paintings are
sent on tour throughout Northern Ontario. Donations from corporate sponsors
enable awards to be given to the artists of outstanding works. N.O.A.A.
members who have had work accepted into at least seven juried exhibitions are
awarded the honour of using the N.O.A.A. letters after their name.
This year’s jurors are Bill Huffman, former Director of the AGS,
currently with the Toronto Arts Council and Natalie Olanick, artist and
instructor at White Mountain Academy, Elliot Lake.
