ART GALLERY OF SUDBURY APPOINTS NEW DIRECTOR
SUDBURY, Ontario, January 9, 2009 - The Art Gallery of Sudbury is very happy to announce that it has recently appointed Karen Tait-Peacock as the new Director of the Gallery and has promoted Krysta Telenko, formerly Curatorial Assistant at the Gallery, to the position of Curator.
Karen returned to Sudbury two years ago after working in Toronto for a number of different organizations including Frontier College, a national literacy organization, as Manager of Corporate and Foundation Giving. Prior to moving to Toronto in 2001, Karen was a long time resident of Walden who owned her own fundraising and marketing business for more than five years, working with such organizations as Easter Seals Sudbury, the Older Adults Centre and the Scott Tournament of Hearts. She has more than 16 years experience working in the non-profit sector.
“The AGS continues to play a key role in the community and the arts and culture scene in the City of Greater Sudbury and I am especially motivated to assist the AGS to capitalize on opportunities during this exciting time in our city’s history. My vision for the Art Gallery of Sudbury would be to see it continue to grow and thrive, encompassing the community further into its fold,” said Tait-Peacock.
Krysta Telenko has been with the Art Gallery of Sudbury for the past three years, beginning as a FedNor Youth intern working as curatorial assistant. “I’m excited for all the new challenges and opportunities, as I begin my new role at the AGS as Curator” said Krysta. Krysta studied Museum Studies at Algonquin College in Ottawa and Art History at Concordia University in Montreal. In addition to her new role, Krysta also manages the Permanent Collection, acquisitions and the Art Sales and Rental Program.
